F&B Duty Manager

We are looking for a candidate with 2 or more years experience within the hospitality industry. Due to the rural location, the successful candidate must have a personal license.

The Role:

● Overseeing service at events across day and late shifts, working with Events Manager and Supervisors to ensure full cover at all time.

● Manage staffing levels and rotas, scheduling, training, and performance management of the food and beverage team. To include supervisors and casual staff.

● Monthly stock take, to be completed and submitted on the last day of the month, every month.

● To prepare beverages, interact with guests, take orders and serve drinks, restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.

● Process payments and reconcile transactions

● Ensure a truly warm and welcoming experience for guests at Silchester farm.

● Manage bar ordering and control of stock items ensuring availability at all times. Help to manage cost of sales to ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved

● Constantly evaluate and improve the experience for our guests

● Attend regular team meetings always ensuring a strong and clear flow of communication ● Keep up to date with business trends, systems and practices within the food and beverage industry to enable us to remain current and open to opportunities to improve the profitability of the department.

● Assist in encouraging up selling and on selling to optimize revenue across all food and beverage services. Creating and adapting recipes to ensure profit margin is consistent.

● Check guests’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age

● Assisting with support to Event Manager on all event days where required and implementing and executing full and concise handovers

● Comply with all health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and licensing laws. ● Manage and monitor weekly cleans of both Hen House and Cowshed Bar and prep spaces including but not exclusive to the cellar and both front and back of house areas and storage.

● Ensure the bars are ready to operate ahead of events and showround days.

● Comprehensive close after the event assist with inventory, food storage and closing procedures.

● Creation and implementation of new bar products and supplier research to further increase the visibility of our business ethos and values.

● Sound management through events inclusive of security site walk. Shut down to be executed to complete checklist and ensure implemented on every occasion.

● Personal License holder.

Housekeeping

Our housekeeping team are expanding, and we are looking for experienced and reliable people to join our team. With a variation of shifts available. The Role:

  • Cleaning all areas of Silchester Farm on a daily basis with a deep clean following a wedding or event. Inclusive of the events spaces, accommodation, prep areas and staff working spaces

  • Servicing the accommodation including stripping and making beds, cleaning bathrooms and replenishing toiletries

  • Replenishing in house amenities and room checks.

  • Ensuring the external areas are clean and tidy for any weddings, events or visitors.

  • General maintenance of the venue including window cleaning, polishing, etc

  • Assisting with delivery of breakfast and in house accommodation catering.

  • Maintaining in house facilities and ensuring all areas of the venue are set and ready for overnight stays, day and evening hire.

  • Oversight of all spaces ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and overall attention to detail across indoor and outdoor areas.

Sous Chef

A fabulous opportunity to join our growing kitchen team and be a part of something special.

  • The role is full time which will require flexibility around weddings and events 7 days a week.

  • Typically (but not limited to) 40 hours a week based on a 5 out of 7 working day week.

This is a very exciting and important role for Silchester Farm and the successful candidate must be experienced, self-motivated, talented, and energetic. The role will take a great deal of focus and creativity, along with an opportunity to learn from our experienced Head Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and service on both event and non event days

  • Maintain the high standards of cleanliness.

  • Assisting with menu design and supporting our Head Chef from concept to execution

  • Extensive knowledge of allergens policy

  • Hands on approach to support a productive kitchen.

  • Supporting our kitchen with the provision of items for our Farm Shop, Food Truck and event menus

  • Strong communication with the Events and Bar Managers

  • Some lone working and early breakfast shifts

Requirements-

  • 1 years’ experience in a Sous Chef position within similar establishments providing for 100+ covers using local fresh ingredients.

  • Strong understanding of seasonal menus.

  • An understanding of HACCP from ordering, delivery checks, temperature recording and general kitchen management duties.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Own transport is essential due to the rural location.

  • Candidates must be eligible to work full-time in the UK

You must be enthusiastic and willing to take instruction from our friendly Head Chef, who will offer leadership and the opportunity to learn. Homemade products and creativity is key to our success and continued efforts to expand our food offering.

Sales and Events Specialist

This role involves helping to guide our couples and clients throughout their planning journey. This position will include assisting both the Director of Sales and Venue Operations, and the Events team. Working with the senior team to aid administrative tasks from initial sales enquiries to planning for events.

We are looking for a candidate with 2 or more years experience within the wedding and events industry. Due to the rural location, the successful candidate must have a driving license.

The role:

  • 8 hours a day - 5 days out of 7

  • Maintain communications with new enquiries, couples, clients and customers across all areas of the business inclusive of weddings, corporate and both private and public events.

  • Full ownership of office and diary management. Responding to couples queries via email and telephone.

  • Understanding of food and drink service - assisting with the planning of rotas, and team training.

  • Data input, when implementing new CRM and booking software.

  • Showrounds and admin support to weddings, private event, corporate and luxury stay sales teams. Weekend and evening tour cover to support sales managers.

What we are looking for in the successful candidate:

  • An eye for detail and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure a consistent and outstanding level of service.

  • Hotel / hospitality experience

  • Sales experience - enquiry handling and conversion

  • Confidence in handling multiple communication platforms ie: phone, email, website and in house process tools.

  • A friendly and approachable personality with excellent people skills.

  • Have good knowledge on wedding and event trends.

  • Excellent time management.

  • Confident with excel, word and outlook.

  • Good language skills, both verbal and written.

  • Consistent attitude and understanding of the nature of luxury events.

  • Be proactive in your approach to problem solving and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Farmshop Manager

The Farm Shop Manager will be responsible and accountable for delivering exceptional customer service, as well as ensuring that our shop is filled with locally sourced produce, farm fresh food and aligned with brands and suppliers who meet our own ethos. This role combines retail management with creative marketing responsibilities, particularly managing our social media presence to grow brand awareness and customer loyalty. Working on the shop floor, managing ambient, fresh and frozen products - and serving delicious coffees and treats from our in house kitchen - the role requires someone with retail and customer service experience.

Casual Bar & Waiting Staff

We are always looking for enthusiastic and friendly front and back of house staff to join our events team. With private and public events offering a variety of shifts where no two days are the same.

From kitchen to bar, including set up and on the day event assistance - casual hours available to suit the right candidate. An opportunity to work across both the kitchen and bar departments, learning from an experienced and friendly team. Experience in hospitality is a bonus, as we can offer appropriate shifts to suit your experience and skill.

Weekend and late shifts included - candidates must drive due to the nature of the hours and location.

Gardener

As a Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance of our gardens and landscapes. If you have a passion for plants and enjoy working outdoors, we would love to hear from you. Working alongside our estate team to ensure the grounds and gardens are effectively maintained throughout all seasons. As our allotment and kitchen grows, knowledge on seasonal produce is required to ensure we are working closely with our kitchen to grow what we need to supply both our kitchen and farmshop.
